Here is my first cut at a tripole x1 grid for testing the ice model. The
dimensions are 360x240. These were generated o a big-endian machine (a
Mac).

I ended up just using Rick's bipole code out of the box rather than
integrating over the 0.1 grid. I still think that is a good way to go, but
I need to think more carefully about edge conditions.

The land mask was generated from ETOPO2, and I closed off and filled in
most marginal seas including the Med for this first test. ETOPO2 has some
peculiar looking topography around Antarctica (presumably from specifying
the elevation of the top of the rock rather than the top of the glaciers).

There are also some plots of the resulting land mask (thick lines) vs. a
mapped coastline database (thin lines).

If you have a chance before you leave for the UK take a quick look and let
me know if this is going to be usable for your testing of CICE. Do you
need a full KMT ?
